nimino is one of the most exciting names in electronic music. In 2024, nimino turned heads with his viral hit I Only Smoke When I Drink, which surpassed 80 million streams. The track charted on the UK Singles Chart and spent over 20 weeks on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Chart. Championed by the likes of Pete Tong, Diplo, and Danny Howard, the single is a standout from his upcoming EP Creek, set for release in March 2025 on Ninja Tune’s Counter Records—home to artists such as ODESZA, Maribou State, and Roosevelt.

Before he began releasing and performing music under the moniker nimino, Milo Evans’ musical journey started in his teenage years growing up in the UK as a way to channel his ADHD. Beginning with simple loop-stitching on an Asus laptop, music quickly became an obsession. By the time he finished studying music technology in Brighton, he had created the equivalent of eight albums’ worth of material. His first release as nimino in 2013—a slo-mo, bass-inflected take on Pixies’ Where Is My Mind—marked the beginning of his career when it amassed hundreds of thousands of plays on SoundCloud and earned him the title of Huffington Post’s “Artist of the Month.”

By 2020, nimino had cultivated an engaged community across his social platforms and launched a series called
songs for people you may know, where he created custom songs for fans. “I’d go on Instagram, and people would give me ideas to build a song around,” he explains. “It felt like a perfect way to connect with fans and show how fast I could make a decent song in a variety of styles.” Early in the series, someone requested a track that would be the perfect festival opener. “I made something with a long build-up and a huge emotional drop. A week or so later, I played it live, and people went crazy. ” That track, Opening Credits, released in 2022, quickly became a fan favorite.

Since then, nimino has released several singles and an EP, with each new release continuing the journey of the nimino character through its artwork. “The nimino character symbolizes the journey my musical tastes have taken—more so by the environments he’s ended up in through no choice of his own. The travels he goes on accompany the music I’m making, and vice versa, but he’s also sort of nothing to do with me personally—just a little guy on an expedition through different spaces, discovering different sounds.”

nimino has performed at major festivals such as Lightning in a Bottle and Leeds Fest, as well as sold-out headline shows at venues including Village Underground in London, Racket in NYC, and El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. Fresh off his sold-out North American headline tour in the fall of 2024, he’s set to play major festivals worldwide in 2025.

Brijean

Since their debut as Brijean, the project of percussionist/singer-songwriter Brijean Murphy (the percussive
heartbeat for live bands like Mitski, Poolside, and Toro y Moi) and multi-instrumentalist/producer Doug
Stuart has moved with ingenuity, fusing psych-pop abstraction with dancefloor sensibilities. Through the
body and mind, rhythm and lyricism, they make sense of the worlds around and within; 2021’s Feelings
celebrated self-reflection; 2022’s Angelo processed loss, coinciding with the duo’s first headlining tour,
which doubled down on the material’s desire to move. Now, across the playful expanse of Macro, arriving
in 2024 on Ghostly International, Brijean engages different sides of themselves, the paradox of being
alive.
Murphy, an accomplished DJ, session and live player in Oakland’s diverse music scene has emerged as
one of indie’s most in-demand percussionists. In 2018, she began recording songs with multi-
instrumentalist and producer Stuart, who shares a background in jazz and pop in bands such as Bells
Atlas, Meernaa, and Luke Temple. Eventually dubbed Brijean, the project grew out of marathon sessions
at their intimate home-studio. Their first effort, Walkie Talkie (released by Native Cat Recordings in 2019),
found Murphy taking the mic for the first time to deliver dreamy dance tracks that felt home-cooked and
effortlessly chic. Her layered percussion and hypnotic, expressive vocals coupled with Stuart’s production
and harmonic palette evoked shades of disco, ‘90s house, and a sly pop sensibility. ”A smooth,
sumptuous, and soulful record,” said Bandcamp, who helped propel the group’s early following.
Murphy’s musical talents are family heirlooms: her father, percussionist and engineer Patrick Murphy,
taught Brijean her first patterns on a pair of congas that she inherited from the late Trinidadian steel drum
legend Vince Charles (of Neil Diamond). Growing up in LA’s Glassell Park, Murphy was raised by a cadre
of honorary aunts and uncles – a deep bench of jazz, Latin and soul musicians in their own rites. This
meant she grew up regaled by musical lore – larger-than-life tales of jazz luminaries, psychedelic trips
and obscure cultural enclaves – sampling some of those family stories and weaving them into her work.
Growing up outside of Chicago, Stuart found his way into jazz clubs and festivals as a teenager,
frequently going to hear Jeff Parker, Fred Anderson, and other members of the AACM. While attending
the University of Michigan, he studied under Detroit jazz royalty, Robert Hurst and Geri Allen. After
college, Stuart became intrigued by the music of J Dilla and Moodymann, and began learning production
and exploring the connections between jazz, house, and hip-hop.

Mixing the joyfulness of a sermon, religious iconography, and a transgressive approach to performance itself which seeks too subvert the performer vs. audience dynamic, St. Terrible and the Gospel of Nothingness have created an expansive and embracing experience that is vital and vibrant.” – Lex Voight, LA Music Blog

The Traveler

The Traveler

I’m a teenage artist from Boise, ID. I’m currently on a journey to find meaning, balance, and self-improvement. I started out in music during the COVID pandemic when I heard a song from a TV I was watching. After I finally figured out what the song was, I tried to learn it on the piano, drawing piano graphs on a piece of paper just so I could remember what sequence to play what notes. Driven by this sudden love for music, I joined my middle school orchestra where I picked up guitar. I learned how to compose and orchestrate music using Musescore and had the chance to perform a couple of my songs throughout 8th grade, Including a piece at the West Ada Middle School Orchestra Festival. Later I would then experiment with Neo-Classical realm that lead to a silent release, A Day to Ourselves (which is available on Bandcamp)

In high school, I adopted the persona of The Traveler, grappling with self-doubt and a sense of being lost—feelings that grouped together with a personal event causing me pain. Music saved me in a way, guiding me through dark times and ultimately inspiring the official debut album, Risking My Life, For The Sake of My Life. The search for equilibrium continued with the release of my EP, Balance. Now, I’m working on a new project that explores the direction I want to take, offering a glimpse into my life story through an ethereal, folk-inspired lens. I hope to continue creating and sharing my music, always open to new visions and possibilities.
